Junior Nationals December 2009
The 2009 Short Course Junior National swim meet was held at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio December 10th -12th. Five swimmers from STAR Aquatics qualified to compete at this national level meet: Kathleen Baker, Harrison Brogden, Faith Johnson, Alexandra Marshall, and Alistair Stephens-Pickeral. Baker, Brogden and Johnson finaled: Baker finished 25th in the 100 back (56.58), Brogden finished 30th in the 100 back (51.96) and Johnson finished 14th in the 50 free (23.50) and 14th in the 100 free (50.95). Kathleen Baker broke the 800 meter free NC record with a time of 9:27.47 at the Long Course Invitational which took place on Sunday after Junior Nationals. The team was accompanied by coaches Jay Dodson, Chris Bowker and Scott Budde. Star Aquatics practices in Winston Salem, High Point, Mount Airy and Greensboro.

Congratulations to Kathleen Baker for breaking THREE NC State Records this past weekend at the Rock Hill Meet: 200 breast , the previous record was held by Maija Roses (2:24.51) and Kathleen swam a 2:23.71, 100 free, previous record held by Teresa Long (52.72) and Kathleen's new record 52.23, 1000 free, previous record held by Genevieve Miller (10:33.03) and Kathleen swam a 10:21.26. |
